A pro-poor COP27

In the early hours of Sunday 20th November 2022, the United Nations Climate Change conference in Sharm el Sheikh drew to a close. Unusually for these conferences, it delivered some positive headlines. The agreement at COP27 to establish a fund for Loss and Damage has been widely welcomed by delegates from the developing nations and civil society organisations across the world.
But how was this historic agreement achieved, and what now needs to happen? And what exactly is Loss and Damage? I have been proud to play a small part in the achievement, working closely with SCIAF and fellow Catholic organisations across the world.
