Keeping the conversation open

Archbishop Mario Conti was a supporter of Open House. After the 2019 conference on future directions for the Catholic Church in Scotland, which focused on synodality, he wrote to say that he had read the conference report and was impressed by the number of people who attended, the level of participation and the quality of responses. There appeared to be ‘no getting at anyone’, he wrote, and ‘no polarising of the company’. He thought such an approach in matters ecclesiastical was increasingly rare.
