In 2016 Christine Totten, on a retreat in Bolton, picked up a leaflet in a local church. The leaflet advertised Bolton Lunches, an organisation set up to feed children during the school holidays.

Christine, from Clydebank, had for some time been concerned about the plight of families she knew who were struggling to pay bills, and had been using her retreat to discern ways of helping them.
