It took the corona virus – and the airline industry – to unite the world in rediscovering the vital importance of public health systems, adequately funded for such a pandemic, and the World Health Organisation.
No doubt, eventually we shall find out from credible journalistic sources the full story about how the new virus originated and spread. In the meantime here in the U.S., if we ignore political fools like President Donald Trump, and pay attention to the public health experts from university medical schools and other independent research institutions who show up on our TV News screens, they are serving us well. Now that New York State has just become (24th March) the latest epicentre of the virus, I expect you have seen Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Mayor of New York City Bill Di Blasio, stepping up to try and supply for the lack of leadership from the White House. Unfortunately, it might be too late to spare that state from an Italy-like experience.
