MICHAEL O’NEILL argues that the future of American democracy is at stake in the Congressional elections in November.

The future of American democracy, already dealt an almost fatal blow by the violent attempted coup of the Make America Great Again hordes on 6th January last year, will almost certainly be decided at the November Congressional elections. If the Republicans win even one of the two legislative chambers, House or Senate, they have shown already what they can do, from packing the Supreme Court with far right- wing judges to voting against the certification of a lawful presidential election and changing election laws.
