My current role as a Safeguarding Consultant to the Society of Jesus internationally has enabled me to experience a more global context for this work. It has provided me with opportunities to travel and experience a range of cultural approaches to safeguarding. It is stating the obvious that working with such a large religious congregation as the Jesuits takes me into very male dominated contexts. This has included, for example, sometimes being the only woman in residence at the Jesuit Curia in Rome. I understand that a few years ago that would have been unheard of!
