On Faith in the Darkness

In the darkness, did our faith hold up? I’d be lying if I said my faith held firm. The truth is I’ve struggled at times; I’ve experienced overwhelming fear about family contracting the virus. I’ve wasted hours on social media, frightening myself with Facebook posts of rising death tolls in Italy. I’ve sat with the fear of dying young, not having lived out my vocation to marriage and motherhood.

But in those great tsunamis of emotions, did the Christ who promises never to abandon us hold to his promise? He did. In this enforced Sabbath, I’ve found him in the place I often forget to look. Inside myself.
