Film Review: The Catholic school
The book of this film was reviewed in Open House 285 (Dec-Jan 2020). It is a massive novel based on true events by Eduardo Albinati. The reviewer pointed out that ‘Catholic’ and ‘School’ should be understood as meaning ‘universal’ and ‘school of life’. In 1975 the school was a posh single sex private academy in Rome’s middle class establishment. The book is a reflection on male sexuality by Albinati who attended the school. Being born a boy, he says, is an ‘incurable disease’.
