Glimmers of Light

Last November the annual UN climate conference in Sharm-El-Sheikh, COP27, produced a very rare thing in global issues - a reason to be hopeful; a glimmer of light.
The agreement to establish a Loss & Damage Fund was a moment of genuine historical significance. After decades of negotiations, the fund will help embed the principle of climate justice into global climate policy, and provide cash to communities facing climate impacts. Whilst this achievement must be celebrated, it must also be accompanied by further advocacy to ensure that the fund is fit for purpose. It is also important to understand how this victory was achieved, and give credit to advocates from across the world who fought for it.
