Music for Mass

What a delight it was to welcome people back to church, and be welcomed, after the long pandemic liturgical fast. It also felt a bit odd, and the feeling of strangeness deepened when I had to ask people not to sing. How are we to have music at Mass at this time?
Entry song: I have lots of recordings made during rehearsals by the St Mungo Singers and with decent amplification they work well, so there was an Entry Song that Sunday and there has been one every day since. Today, as I write, is the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola, so at the start of Mass this morning we heard the choir singing ‘Such are the ones who seek your face, who seek your face, O Lord. Glory to the Father, glory to the Son, glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.’ It is brief, relevant to the feast, and it covers the priest getting to his place.
