Dr Helen Costigane SHCJ outlined the opportunities currently open to lay people under canon law, and considered what the future might hold. Theologian Revd Professor David Jasper responded from the Episcopalian tradition and Very Rev Sheilagh Kesting from the Church of Scotland.

Helen Costigane
A member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. She teaches Canon Law and Christian Ethics at Heythrop College, University of London, and is a visiting lecturer at KU Leuven, Belgium.

David Jasper
Distinguished Overseas Professor at Renmin University of China.

Sheilagh Kesting
The Ecumenical Officer of the Church of Scotland and was the first woman minister to become Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland
